Camp Bentzon

WALT: Summarise a week long experience into a recount.

Just a week ago most of the year six students  went on a camp that has been going on for 25 years. All  the year sixes for the last 25 years of Pt England history have gone to Kawau island to support our school. We had to show what Pt Englanders’ do and how we behave with our manners. Have you ever been to Kawau Island?

Well once we got on our ferry we had a few stops, but when we arrived at our stop at  camp Bentzon we  did our traditional haka. On the Island Erin and Peter introduced the island and themselves, also all the animals and that we have to be careful. I was very surprised to find out we get to got to have heaps of free time and have different competitions that we could win.

Our first activity was rafting for Kawau A. It was very hard for me and my team because some of our boys (actually  all of them) did not help and the girls did all the work. As I was tying the knot it was still not tight it was hopeless.We tried to make it float  on the water but it fell apart, and it was just horrible. We were full of disappointment, but atleast we tried. Oh well, better luck next time.

On the next day I was excited to go abseiling. I was very anxious about it  because I was working on overcoming my fear of heights. I suddenly got scared when I saw Yvonne doing it because she was crying when she was getting down, so I got nervous. Tim said it was going to be ok so I started to get  confident and didn't worry about falling so down I went then…  I MADE IT YAY!

So now it was Friday and was time to go back home. I really wanted to stay but unfortunately we had to go back to school. I enjoyed doing kayaking and sailing also confident course they were my favourite activities I did, but didn't write about it. So on the next holiday you should go to Kawau Island.

What i have learned about is taking what i have done in the past and making a recount i was also making my story  interesting for my readers and people who look at my blog, so hope you had a great read.

Problem solving week three term four.

WALT: Solve word problems.
I have learned how to solve fractions and word problems by my ownself and solve a range of fractions. what the task was asking was to solve word problems and equations.

What is adaptation.

WALT: Define Adaptations.

The process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its 

environment.


What I think about Adaptations is Fighting  resources to survive like food, water, shade, and a 

habitat. 

For example a Polar bear adapts in Antarctica with it's fur which is white to camouflage with 

the snow and the polar bears thick white fur to keep warm from the coldness.

Room six is going to the zoo. But is it really a zoo trip, instead we are taking a virtual tour of a zoo we are actually going Online to find information. But why are we using the internet ?

I have learned how to do fractions and i learnt how to do it with my friend name Talita. What the task was asking us was to find equivalent fractions.

 I have learned with my friends how to find fractions and simplify them on this presentation. I am really good with my team and how hard we worked what the task was asking us was to find a fraction of a number and do lowest terms.

The Fear factor.

On the first week of school our first writing experiment was called Fearfactor.  Maggots, blood, and rat hair also massive cockroaches was what I saw on the YouTube video just on the site. The food he came with was from our own dirty, disgusting creek but I knew it was one of Mr Goodwin’s old tricks.

Antarctica and Arctic research.

I have learn't how to do some research about the Antarctica and the Arctic and using the information and putting it into our presentation to show you what we have learn't.

My things about term three.

What I liked about term three was the new learning we have learn't and all the sports. I have also learned how to do my own recounts decimals and also how to all different kinds of things. This term was the best term ever in my whole life of learning And goodbye to all those fans and blog lovers and see you next term.

Egg friend race recount

WALT: Think about my purpose and reader by planning my recount.

Well today was a pretty weird day for room six . It was a mini friend that we shared between our partner and we had to look after it. So we took it to our park and did a race, it was a egg friend race that we did for our experiment.

This little friend i am introducing is an egg and her name was preggy. My partner Talita drawed her face and the egg had a smile with one tooth out and had small eyes and a small nose. We had just got our little friend  like the rest of our team mates in our classroom. But my partner was really acting like it was a human being i was just like let's cook it and eat it.

Once we got to the park we got a little traveller machine that we all had to put our egg on without touching it.  It was a spoon. First my partner was racing she risk her life and did it the hard way but once she came back she said it was very difficult so i got nervous. I didn't look at my egg until I reached the end, once i got there i had just realized my partner cracked it. Because she told me right there but we weren't the only ones who did there were two groups that cracked there's too.

I still remember how difficult it was for my partner and i how we weren't aloud to touch it and other difficult rules . I bet my partner was really shocked because she wanted to take really good care but she found it difficult because she tooked the risk and it cracked.  It was difficult for me and easy because  I made it past without dropping it i also had butterflies in my stomach and the difficulty was trying to not crack it.

For our egg race was really difficult and i had heaps of feeling when we did the egg race. Butterflies is what I get for when I am nervous about how difficult it is going to be when I am doing the race. I did it really steady because it might drop again so to me and my partner we found it really hard.

I have learned how to do punctuation and learned how to put more detail into it and making sure it it pushes the reader to read on and find out more about my story. The task was asking me to think about my reader and purpose by planning my recount.

Problem solving week 8 term three.

WALT: Multiply and divide decimals by whole numbers.



I have learned how to multiply and divide decimals by whole number and i did this all by myself. I also learned how to multiply them by big numbers and small numbers too.

I have learned how to write the definition of our word and write it in our own words. We have been learning how to use the words related to the story to write our own sentences. 

Market day for team four.

WALT: Write an interesting and detailed recount.


For team four our topic for term three was trade and enterprise. On Friday we had our market day , we were basically buying from other businesses and asking people to buy our product. One person was touring while the other person was selling, so that the customers will come and buy our product.


We are having a market day because just four weeks before our market day we were making orders for people,  we could get as much pt and pieces only buy selling. The market day is when you get your product you bought four weeks ago fro the same group. The product that my group was selling was shoe box ukulele there was not that much orders as we expected to be but we were still  making orders for the people who was interested .

Setting up was where i was getting more excited because it was almost buying and selling time. What we did was we made our own posters and sticked them to our tables. We our group setted up was just next to our business group class. So we put our product on our table so the customers will actually know what it looks like.

Hmm my tummy was rumbling just when i was selling. But when it was my turn to buy products I was running towards the kitchen groups nearly all the food was gone. I carried on until I saw jewelry and i bought a squid and key ring from that group and then as soon as I heard ‘‘slime come and get your slime’’ i ran to toys and there it was i was just in time to buy it. But then my stomach started rumbling so i went to kitchen and i could smell hot chips waiting in line ‘‘ohhh‘‘ I sighed sadly it was already sold out even all the other foods.

While my Partner was buying products i was selling and busking people it was a bad day for our group because hardly no one came to us. Then one customer came to buy our product and that was Mr Goodwin he payed and ordered for our product but that was just when my partner was selling. So we thank Mr Goodwin for coming to our business group and now i have heaps of pts and pieces.

I thought that team four has the best trade and enterprise item out of the whole school. Buying, selling, and touring around our block trying to find new items was what we were doing, it was awesome. I want to do the market again because this time i want to buy Food.

I Have learned how to make detailed recounts and learned how to make them interesting for the reader to keep on reading on, I also got help from my friends and they also helped me from my punctuation. I have learned how to make sense write the main thing in one paragraph. The task was asking me to make my story interesting and put more details in it.

In the midday I can see a big ________

with golden skin that is soft to touch

It is upset with meat and roars when it see’s it’s cubs playing around.

When it drinks coffee it gets very hypo and stops at countdown to get a lot of  food.

Its happy when it’s cubs are learning how to hunt its prey.

I have learned how to do poetry with a partner and how to make our own poems too. I also learned how to make it sound like something else but it is actually a different thing.

WALT: Add and subtract decimals.



I have learned how to do decimals and i have also learned how to add and subtract decimals with some of strategy's i have learned.

Adventurous Adverbs

WALT: We are learning about adverbs and how to use them effectively.
I have learned how to make and do verbs and make adverbs also adventurous verbs. I also learned how to make them in sentences.

Trade Fair.

WALT: Use language that paints a picture in the mind of our reader.

For our topic that we are doing for this term is trade and enterprise. Buying things and selling things with our own money and internet bank is just some of exciting that we are doing and what we have. If you have never heard of a trade fair read on to find out about how our trade fair went in team 4.

A trade fair is when you have a group and a project that your group has been working on and then you want to sell it. Remember a trade fair is when you are trading things to other people that you have built or created from your group. Doing a trade fair can make you heaps of money and you can also spend it on other projects that is the point of doing trade fairs.

In our trade and enterprise we had our own business groups just like I have been saying. The groups that we have to decide from was either Music, Custom stationery, Jewelry, Home ware, Toys And Kitchen the group that I was impressed with was Music i just like playing instruments. What we do in Music is listen to music and build instruments my product that i am doing with my group the Royal benchers is creating ukulele for other people and the price that we were doing was 4.50.

For me the trade fair was pretty fun and some of them just was too expensive for me. What I ordered  was loom bands that were star burst, headphones key rings also a candle. They were all very cheap and cool, that was the only things I have bought.  But when I went to go check my business group they were doing really well hustling people to come and order was a  pretty good idea.

The trade fair was awesome man I can’t wait for week eight, it is because the stuff we bought that is the week we are gonna get it. But for my feelings of doing a trade fair was cool for year fives and sixes it looked like we all had fun. Doing my own business and with my own group in the trade fair helped me with getting heaps of orders.

I have learned how to paint a picture in our own readers head. I also learned how to make new vocab words in my story.
